Lower Third Layer

This layer provides a lower third overlay on the bottom of the screen. The text is overlaid on a customizable background which can be removed if you want.

Group Parameter Function
Control Type Determines how the lower third reacts to being set Live. Manual requires you to manually turn the layer off when done. Automatic lets you set a time for the layer to stay active before it disables itself.
Text Duration When the Control Type is set to Automatic, this allows you to set the time for the layer to remain active.
Content Title This is the first line of text on the lower third, typically a name. It is possible to leave this empty to show only the text below.
Subtitle This is the second line of text on the lower third, typically a description. It is possible to leave this empty to show only the text above.
Animation Incoming You can choose the way in which the lower third background appears when set to Live.
Duration If a transition other than Cut is selected for either of the incoming or outgoing transitions, you can specify the time it takes to complete.
Softness Determines the falloff of the wipe transitions. A value of 0 results in a hard edge of the wipe.
Text Delay This is the period between the completion of the background transition and the start of the text transition, or vice versa.
Text This is the transition that the text will use to appear and disappear. The duration parameter affects the speed of this as well.
Outgoing You can choose the way in which the lower third background disappears when disabled.
Background Height Set the size of the lower third.
Type Choose from Constant Color, Gradient Left/Right or Custom Image.
Color Choose a color for the lower third background. You can also set the opacity here.
Image If Custom Image is set above, pick the image to be used for the background. The image is scaled proportionately to fit the width of the document, and the top of the image is used, down to the height specified above.
Appearance Text Alignment If the Background Type above is set to Constant Color or Custom Image, you can set which side the text should be aligned to, or make it centered.
Font Title You can use the Mac font chooser to adjust how the first line of text will appear.
Font Subtitle You can use the Mac font chooser to adjust how the second line of text will appear.
Kerning Specifies the spacing between each character.
Drop Shadow Enables options for a drop shadow to be applied on the text. You can set the color, opacity, blur amount and the distance and direction from the text.
Geometry Title Baseline The vertical position of the title text in relation to the top of the lower third.
Subtitle Baseline The vertical position of the subtitle text in relation to the top of the lower third.
Text Inset Horizontal inset of the text from the left or right.
Subtitle Offset Horizontal offset of the subtitle text from the title text.
Y Inset Vertical inset of the text box from the bottom of the screen.
Background Animation Image An image can be animated on top of the lower third. You can make it gradually move horizontally, vertically or rotate.
Opacity Set the opacity of the animated image. Lowering the opacity reveals the background as set in the above section. This background animation follows the transparency of the background set above, so its opacity will be affected by the alpha channel of the background. To make this animation semitransparent above the below layers, leave this opacity set to 100% and set the Background above to be a Constant Color - either white or black - and control the opacity using that color picker. When a gradient is set as the background above, the fade will be applied to this animation as well.
Translation X Defines a speed to scroll the image left/right.
Translation Y Defines a speed to scroll the image up/down.
Rotation Defines a speed to rotate the image clockwise/counterclockwise.
Logo Image You can choose an image to include on the lower third. The image will be shown at a 1:1 ratio to the actual source, so it should be designed with the size of the document in mind.
X Inset Horizontal placement of the image in relation to the opposite side of alignment selected in the Appearance or Background sections above.
Y Inset Vertical placement of the image in relation to the top of the lower third.
